Netflix TV Show Series Bates Motel

Bates Motel is an American drama series about a woman named Norma Bates and her son, Norman Bates. They move to a new town after the death of her husband to start a new life. She buys a house and the motel in front of it and decides to start a business with her son. However, they were not welcome in the new area by some local citizens because it was the property of Keith Summers’ family. His great-great-grandfather built the house, and his grandfather built the motel. His family lost ownership and no longer could take care of the house or the motel.

The tragedy starts when Keith Summers breaks into their house, attacks Norma Bates, and eventually tries to sexually assault her. Norman comes rushing in and knocks Summers unconscious. Norma ends up killing Summers, so Norman suggests that they call the police. His mother refuses because she believes it will ruin their business. They use one of the rooms in the motel to hide the body and later dump it in the river, wash the floorboards in the house, and replace all the carpets in the motel so that it would appear as if the incident never happened.

Norman has a mental disorder where he has blackouts which cause him to do terrible things, sometimes to the extent of killing people. After a blackout happens, he wakes up the next day with no memory of what took place, where he was, or the consequences of his actions. Norman’s blackouts have an interesting relation to his fathers’ death. His mother has known about his blackouts since he was young, but Norman is unaware of them. Norma has always been overprotective of him and always wants to be with him in case of another blackout. As the show continues, the audience sees the different scenarios that this mother and son go through and how one situation creates a chain reaction.

This drama series has had 93% on rotten tomatoes and five-star ratings. Check out Bates Motel which is available now on Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, and Google Play Movies & TV. Find out what the death of Norman’s father has to do with his mental illness and blackouts.
