Netflix’s ‘In The Tall Grass’ Review
Netflix recently released a mystery film on Oct. 4th called In the Tall Grass. The film is directed by Vincent Natali and is based on the story by Stephen King and Joe Hill. The film follows a pregnant woman, Becky and her brother, Cal who are traveling to San Diego and stop by a church where they hear a young boy calling out for help. Once they enter the grass to find the boy, they begin to realize that everything in the grass is not what it seems, and something evil may be lurking in the shadows.
In the Tall Grass stars Patrick Wilson as Ross Humboldt, Harris Gilbertson as Travis McKean, Laysla De Oliveira as Becky and Avery Whitted as Cal. The actors give promising performances and add to the eeriness of the dark atmosphere. The film always leaves the viewer wondering what’s going to happen next and try to unfold the weird events that take place in the tall grass.
In the Tall Grass mixes different horror elements with science fiction and it makes the film very different from many other horror films like Annabelle and The Curse of La Llorona. The movie does fall a little flat in its storytelling but it’s still an interesting concept for a horror film. The movie’s twist ending will definitely surprise viewers and will be worth a second viewing to piece everything together that you may have missed.
I would recommend this movie to fans of horror movies or anyone looking for something new to watch on Netflix. Stephen King is known for making may horror novels that have movie adaptations as well with films including It, Pet Semetary and Carrie. In the Tall Grass adds to his iconic list of film-adapted novels and follow his unique take on horror. Overall, I would give In the Tall Grass a 7/10 for its unique story and concept but falling a bit short on the delivery.
