NFL’s Thanksgiving Day

It’s that time of the year again, for holidays and joy with loved ones. It is also that famous week in November for the NFL (National Football League). Families all across America will gather together around the TV to watch the Detroit Lions at 12:30 PM, Dallas Cowboys 4:30 PM, and whoever else is deemed worthy of being a part of the great day in American history. On Thursdays the NFL has Football, and they decided long ago that no holiday is going to change it, but enhance the event for fans.

As mentioned the first game of the day will take place in Detroit. The Lions will take on the Chicago Bears for the second time this season. In the first meeting, the Lions were defeated by ten points, 24-14. The Bears put up a good fight last week against the Ravens who are at the top of the AFC north, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Bears are able to pull out another victory.

What’s suppose to be Thanksgiving’s main event, the Dallas Cowboys against the Los Angeles Raiders. As the Cowboys have been towards the top of the league this season, the Raiders have been middle of the pack and trending downward. Los Angeles is on a three game losing streak, and in any of the three games they did not score more than seventeen points. If Dallas handles business how they have been practically all season, this should be an easy win.

Finally, Buffalo Bills will travel to New Orleans to face the Saints. Both teams are in the middle of the NFL standings, not too high, and not the worst team in the league. Like the Raiders, the Saints are five and five coming off of three consecutive losses. Its been hard comprehending that this was the same team that dominated the Packers week 1. Because these teams seemed to be equal in level. the game could possibly be entertaining all the way to the final minutes.

NFL Football on thanksgiving is a wonderful experience. This year’s matchups are different from the traditional NFC north and east bouts of old, but it now gives new fans that aren’t usually watching their team play on Thanksgiving a chance to feel the roller coaster of emotional excitement that is a nationally televised football game.
