NPHC: A Different World Entertains Campus Community
Frostburg State University’s National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) held “A Different World” on Saturday, Sept. 24 in Cordts Physical Education Center. The event was free, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the show starting at 6 p.m. Performances by Omega Psi Phi, Iota Phi Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Strutters, Paparazzi Perfection, Visual Couture and CSA entertained the crowd. The show was hosted by Jay Dukes.
The event had a great turnout, especially since it was the first of its kind.
The NPHC serves as the official coordinating agent of the Divine 9 constituent member Greek Letter fraternities and sororities which are historically African American.
The event “A Different World” featured NPHC fraternities and sororities, two modeling organizations and two dancing organizations partnering up to showcase their work and talents. Participating members performed step routines, dances, high-fashion modeling, and modeling with choreography. This partnership opportunity allowed students from multiple organizations to host a successful social event that provided other students with exciting, on-campus entertainment. Jay Dukes, comedian and host, is known for his “impeccable improvisational skills and a contagious energy that allows him to keep the audience thoroughly entertained for the entire show,” according to his website www.jaydukes.com.
Each of the participating campus organizations can be found with contact information on Bobcat Connect. For more information about the NPHC visit http://www.frostburg.edu/sci/student-activities-greek-life/greek-life/nphc/.
