The Department of Music Presents: Paul Zimmerman Guitar Recital
The Performing Arts Center held a senior recital featuring Paul Zimmerman. Paul Zimmerman is from the guitar studio of Mr. Patrick Sise, and this recital was a fulfillment of a requirement for his bachelor’s degree in music.
His first piece was called “Vals Op. 8 No. 3” by Agustin Barrios. This artist was a Paraguayan guitarist, born in 1885, whose styles were classical, new age, and modern age/contemporary. He was most famous for music, writing poems, and for making over 300 songs. The next few pieces Zimmerman played were “Etude No. 11,” “Prelude No. 1,” and “Etude No. 7,” all by Heitor Villa-Lobos. Villa-Lobos was a Brazillian composer, conductor, cellist, pianist, and guitarist. There was a ten minute intermission, and when Zimmerman returned to the stage, he continued with the next pieces called”BWV. 998,” “Prelude,” and “Allegro” by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Bach was a German composer from the Boroque period and was known for vocal music and music composition. The last few pieces were “Allegretto,” “Andante,” and “Allegro” by Federico Moreno Torroba (1891-1982). They were a mix between moderately slow and moderately fast.
