The Egg has Hatched: Spyro Remastered Trilogy coming Fall 2018
About a week ago, several popular gamers on the internet received packages from a mysterious benefactor named “Falcon McBob.” Inside these packages were purple dragon eggs with a note that read, “something’s about to hatch,” signed by Falcon McBob. These eggs caused quite a stir on the internet, but most people assumed that they could only mean one thing: a remaster of the original Spyro trilogy.
Just a couple days after news these teaser eggs spread, Activision officially announced the Spyro Reignited Trilogy on April 5. The “All Scaled Up” reveal trailer appeared on Youtube, as it was uploaded by several gaming channels. This remaster will include Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro Year of the Dragon, all remastered with high-definition graphics and bundled onto one disc. The release date for the trilogy is set for Sept. 21 of this year for Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and it will be priced at $39.99.
The Spyro Reignited Trilogy is being developed by Toys For Bob, a company that has been handling Spyro since 2011 with their own Skylanders series. The company’s CCO, Paul Yan, has told the press, “we’re deeply passionate about staying true to the legacy of the original three Spyro games with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. We’ve poured a lot of love into making the personalities and worlds feel just like fans remember them, while also keeping the game collection surprisingly fresh with lush, high definition detail. We’re bringing back the Spyro we all fell in love with 20 years ago.”
Also, dedicated Spyro fans will be happy to hear that in this new trilogy, Spyro’s appearance will remain faithful to his classic look, as opposed to how he looks in the Skylanders series.
