This Week for Frostburg Sports
Men’s & Women’s Swimming:
The Bobcats hosted the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Seahawks over the weekend in Frostburg’s pool. The men lost to St. Mary’s with a score of 128-126, while the women lost with a score of 146-116. The men collected a total of five wins for the afternoon. These wins came from first-year Adam Stein, sophomore Brady Peterson, a relay team consisted of Peterson, sophomore Anthony Giuseppetti, first-year Cameron Edwards, and first-year Luke Russel. The women were able to collect seven wins. Contributors to the wins were senior Maddie Weinberger and junior Elizabeth DeMonte. The next swim meet for the Bobcats will be the Franklin and Marshall Invitational in Lancaster, PA starting on Friday, Nov. 16.
Men’s & Women’s Cross Country:
The men’s team collected 657 points to take 22nd place in the NCAA Mideast Regional race. Senior Robbie Romano finished with a time of 26:39 to finish in 24th place overall. For the women, while there was no team score recorded, junior Sarah McCurry finished the meet with a time of 25:38 in 121st place. This meet is the conclusion of the Bobcats’ cross-country season.
Football:
On Saturday, the Bobcats hosted Salisbury for the final Regents Cup game. The Bobcats finished the game coming out on top with an overtime win of 38-35. This is the third year in a row that the Bobcats have won against the Salisbury University Seagulls. Frostburg had a total of 386 yards (215 passing yards, 171 rushing yards). This game also served as Senior Day for 13 members of the football team. The next game for the Bobcats will be the NCAA playoff game on Saturday, Nov. 13. This will be Frostburg’s third NCAA playoff appearance.
