This Week in Frostburg Sports

Field Hockey:

The Bobcats finished their season by taking on the third seed in the Capital Athletic Conference, Christopher Newport University (CNU), on Sunday, Oct. 28. The Bobcats dropped the game 0-7. The field hockey team ended their season 2-17, going 0-5 for conference games. Congratulations to all of the members of Frostburg’s field hockey team for an incredible effort and performance during the season.

Volleyball:

The Bobcats faced off against the third seed in the conference, York College, on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The volleyball team played all five sets, but, unfortunately, lost the overall match 2-3 (22-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-20, 7-15). The Bobcats ended their season with a record of 11-23, 2-5 within the Capital Atheltic Conference (CAC). Every member of FSU’s volleyball team should be very proud of their determination and excellent performance upon completing their season.

Men’s Soccer:

These Bobcats concluded their season on Wednesday, Oct. 31, after playing in the CAC semifinals against the first seed, Mary Washington University [MWU]. The game remained 0-0 for the duration, but MWU pulled ahead in a penalty shootout. These players should also be recognized for their excellent performance on the conclusion of their season. The men’s soccer team ends their season with a record of 7-9-3, going 3-2-2 in conference play.

Football:

The Bobcats continued their winning streak after defeating Kean University on Saturday, Nov. 3, 50-6. The Bobcats will host New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) rival, Salisbury University (SU), next weekend for the 20th annual Regents Cup. This also happens to be FSU’s senior day, an exciting game for the Bobcats, who encourage students and community members alike to attend.

Men’s & Women’s Swimming:

The swim teams both took on Salisbury University (SU) on Saturday, Nov. 3. While the men fell a little short at 92-110, the women were victorious with a score of 115-90. It’s always a great day when the Bobcats beat the Seagulls! The men are currently 2-2 for the season so far, while the women are 4-1. The next meet will be held in Frostburg’s pool on Saturday, Nov. 10, against CAC opponent, St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM). In case you need a break to warm up from the football came, come inside and support the swim team as well!
