Tunes at Noon Presents: Dustin Hatzenbuhler

Last week’s Spotlight performance featured Dustin Hatzenbuhler, a gifted singer/songwriter from Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Hatzenbuhler‘s wide-ranging sound can only be described as expressive and melodic.  Many may know him from his presence on Vine, a popular service that displays short-form video sharing. Hatzenbuhler has posted samples of his vocal talents in both Vine videos, and on Youtube. He also has an impressive standing in the music industry.432

In 2012, Hatzenbuhler released his debut album, “Fall,” which rose to number fourteen on the ITunes singer/songwriter chart. Hatzenbuhler has played shows with fellow artists Eric Hutchinson, Dave Barnes and Breanne Duren of Owl City. Another striking accomplishment, according to ReverbNation, is that he was chosen by Clear Channel as one of 25 up-and-coming artists throughout the nation for the 2012 iHeartRadio Rising Star contest. He also made the remarkable feat of being featured on the fourth season of NBC’s “The Voice,” singing for music aficionados Adam Levine, Usher, Shakira and Blake Shelton.

Here at Frostburg State University, Hatzenbuhler showed true artistry, accompanying his songs with his notable talent of the guitar and the piano. He did excellent renditions of Gavin Degraw’s  emotional “More Than Anyone” and Marvin Gay’s carnal “Let’s Get It On.” He also sang his debut track, “Fall,”  as well as a few other notables from the album. His soulful, yet youthful sound is sure to prove longevity in his already exhilarating musical career.
