UPC Puts On “At the End of the Rainbow” Event

The University Programming Council (UPC) held a St. Patrick’s Day event, “At the End of the Rainbow”, on Wednesday, the 16th in the Lane Center. At the event, they showed the movie “The Luck of the Irish” and had a lot of delicious sweets for passersby.

Walking in, you are greeted by the event coordinators who show you around and explain the different stations which included a movie area, snack station, and free souvenirs. The souvenirs items were displayed for students to take from and included items such as pencils, colorful party beads, fun glasses, and much more. The snack station had different options with pudding cups, and candy served in mini cauldron pots with gold. The drink options were lemonade, sweet tea, and water.

The movie played on a projector with chairs arranged in the middle of the room for seating. Students mostly stopped by to catch a couple of scenes in between classes or lunch which was also the same as the snack station. There was not a lot of traffic because most students who stopped by were in and out, not necessarily staying for the full event or the full duration of the movie, likely because of classes scheduled around the time of the event, considering it was held from 11-3.

The event was decorated nicely with the colors green, yellow, gold, and black. The entrance to the room had a glamorous shrine with leprechauns, cauldron pots, and gold coins. The ambiance was calm and relaxed, almost quiet with the sounds from the movie taking up the room along with the chatter of students. The event was successful, even with less traffic than usual.
