Updates from the Parking Committee

Earlier this semester, SGA requested the University Advisory Council (UAC) form an ad hoc parking committee to review parking policies and practices. The committee was formed separately from the existing Parking Concerns Committee. The requested committee set forth their recommendations to the UAC and most were supported.

Changes include:

(1) SGA and SafeRide vans will be moved to the University Police lot.

(2) A new parking map will be published to address the confusion of new students, faculty, and visitors to campus.

(3) The addition of two guest parking spaces next to the Brady Health Center

(4) Lieutenant Ralston of FSUPD will monitor spaces across campus to identify suitable motorcycling spaces, with a final decision forthcoming.

Moreover, the Guild Lot and Allegany Lots will be monitored over the next several weeks to determine how often faculty use these spaces. If FSUPD finds them typically empty, they will be turned over to student parking.

Lastly, at the FSUPD station lot, four spaces that were previously for “Official Police Business Only” have been turned into student parking and the yellow paint which indicated their use has been covered over.

A proposed change to allow Edgewood residents to gain free parking on campus was denied.
