Volleyball 3 Game Winning Streak Snapped against St. Marys

After winning three straight games, the Frostburg State University Volleyball team fell to St. Marys in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) game. It was a close game that saw the lady Bobcats come back from two large deficits. The team would make it close in the second set, but St. Marys still pulled out the victory. Frostburg controlled much of the third and final set. At one point they led by five points, but St. Marys made the comeback and won the third set as well.

Today’s MVP was Naya Cheatem who led the team in kills with 14. She hit on .429 percent of her kills as well. This is the second game in a row Cheatem has led the team and kills. Along with the 14 kills, Cheatem also had 2 blocks. Tied for second in kills were Morgan Hoover and Aimee Petrides who both had 7 each. Freshman Madelyn Torres led the team in assists with 30. Torres also had two digs as well. Lindsey Scepura was the leader in digs against St. Marys with 20. Overall it was a good team effort.

The team has a record of 13-15 and their conference record is 3-4. That has them currently sitting in 7th place. The last two games on the schedule are both CAC games and while winning both games won’t guarantee a playoff berth it would certainly help.

The lady Bobcats play their next game on Oct. 29, against Southern Virginia.
