“What’s Not to Be Excited About?” Crowe Named Dean of Students
After serving as the interim dean of students, Carl Crowe is now the permanent dean of students, a StateLines email announced on Monday, April 13th. Crowe served as the interim dean from July 1st of 2019 until filling the permanent position.
“Students are the reason why we are here and will remain the primary focus of my work,” Crowe says of his newest appointment. “This new role provides more venues to do so outside of the scope of Student Conduct and Community Standards.”
A 1994 graduate of FSU, Crowe credits his “transformative” undergraduate experience, the “amazing faculty and staff, many of whom are still here today,” and his experience as an RA for paving the way to his career. As an actively engaged undergrad, Crowe discusses how he was able to make friends and develop leadership skills.
“Frostburg State University has been an integral part of our lives, and I hope to provide for our students the same formative experiences the talented faculty and staff did for me,” Crowe explained. He met his wife at FSU, his oldest is going to graduate in May of 2020, and his youngest is set to be a Bobcat in the fall of 2021.
After returning to campus in 2016, he has served as FSU’s director of Student Conduct and Community Standards and acting director of Residence Life.
“I don’t feel like I’ve ever really left,” Crowe says.
“Students can expect an open door, visibility, and honest and respectful conversation and engagement,” Crowe notes. “Student Affairs is here to help, so I encourage any student to give a call or drop me an e-mail if you need assistance, have questions, or just want to chat.”
Crowe will oversee Student Conduct and Community Standards, Counseling and Psychological Services, Residence Life, and chair the Students of Concern committee. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Educational Leadership and is scheduled to graduate in May of 2021.
Students can contact Crowe by email at cwcrowe@frostburg.edu or by phone at (301) 687 – 4311.
