Women’s Soccer Goes 1-1
Frostburg State University women’s soccer earned their third win against Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio on Sunday, Sept. 29th. The Bobcats would shut-out Notre Dame and scored 2 goals to win the match. Stephanie Vigezzi had a career-best of 8 total saves to help the Bobcats win. The Bobcats scored their first goal in the 23rd minute of the game. Sophomore forward Audra Curtin gave a nice pass to Brooke Shehade who scored from 25 yards out. In the 53rd minute, Curtin stole the ball from a Notre Dame player, beat the Notre Dame goalie one-on-one, and found the back of the net for the Bobcats on a great individual effort. The game ended at 2-0.
The Bobcats took on Fairmont State on Thursday, Oct. 3rd at Bobcat Stadium. Fairmont State leads the league with an undefeated record in the North bracket. The Bobcats were looking to take them down but came up short. The teams were closely matched as the Bobcats had 6 shots while the Falcons had 7. Shots for the Bobcats came from sophomore defender Abbey Dennis, junior forward Danielle Mclain, and Shehade. The only goal of the game was scored against the Bobcats in the 51st minute of the game. The Falcons earned a corner kick and had a set play ready to go. A Fairmont player ran in and received a low pass from the corner and finished with a low shot into the right corner of the net. Vigezzi, who had her third career start, ended the game with 3 saves in goal for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats now have an overall record of 3-4-1 and a conference record of 3-2. They are now second place in the league.
