Women’s Soccer Takes a Win Over Fairmont
Frostburg’s women’s soccer team took the win on an away game against Fairmont State University on Wednesday evening.
Keeping their winning streak, the lady Bobcats ended the game three to one. From the start, the Bobcats were pressuring the Falcons having attempts made by sophomore striker, Toni Fiocco- Mizer. The first goal came from a corner kick that landed on the foot of first year defender, Cat Smith, leading to her first collegiate goal. A second corner, taken by sophomore Lela Clark, gave way to another goal for Frostburg. Senior Alexis “Lexi” Pate made a great goal off of the corner kick, successfully ending the first half at two to zero.
With a turn of events in the second half, the Falcons began to pressure the Bobcats, looking to get back those two goals. A penalty was called inside the box and Fairmont’s Alyssa Weaver was able to get the first goal for the Falcons. Frostburg reacted intensely after the goal, having double shots by first year Keely Knotts. A few minutes later, a penalty was called inside the box on the Falcons having senior Audra Curtin secure the final goal for the Bobcats and also the victory.
The lady Bobcats return on Sunday, October third, at the Bobcat stadium against Davis and Elkins.
