Women’s Soccer Wins 2
On Oct. 20th, the Bobcats traveled to Wheeling, West Virginia to play Wheeling University. The Bobcats won the match with a score of 5 to 0. The first goal came from a series of passes from junior forward Danielle McClain to senior forward Brooke Shehade to sophomore forward Audra Curtin who finally put the ball in the goal. The second goal was a nice pass from first-year midfielder Kara Kramer to Shehade who hit a ball into the upper corner of the goal. The third goal occurred off a corner kick where sophomore defender Abbey Dennis headed the ball passed Wheeling’s goalie for her first career goal. The fourth goal was scored after Shehade got past the Wheeling defense to put the ball in the back of the net.
The last goal was put in by freshman forward Marley Copes to finish the Bobcats’ lead and win the game. The Bobcats’ defense, of sophomore Makenzie Folch, sophomore transfer Alexis Dell, first-year Jamie D’tullo, and Dennis, had a great performance as they were able to keep Wheeling from scoring any goals.
On Oct. 23rd, the Bobcats hosted West Liberty for a night game. The two teams played an evenly matched 90 minute game with the Bobcats outshooting the Hilltoppers by only one, 12-11. The Bobcats went down in the 23rd minute, but the Bobcats responded with a goal to tie it in the 37th minute. Dennis scored her second career goal by heading it into the back of the net yet again. The game ended in a 1-1 time and headed to overtime. Shehade had the ball at the top of the goal box on her left foot and hit a shot that curved into the top corner to win the game for the Bobcats 2-1 in overtime.
