Women’s Tennis On A Two Win Streak
The Frostburg State University (FSU) Women’s Tennis team is bouncing back this season and things are shaping up after being 2-6 only a week ago. On Saturday, April 2nd, the Women’s tennis team hosted Pittsburgh (Pitt.) Greensburg to take on the Bobcats of different colors.
In the competition, the doubles portion of the match could have went better for Frostburg. Out of the three, FSU won one of those with the winning team being Lorena Pintar and Rabiatu Ladan.
In the singles matches, the FSU women shined the brightest in the past two matches. Against Pitt. Greensburg, they won four of the six matches. Pintar, Immanuella Odiong, Madison Toothman, and Betsy Hixson all won their matches. Most of the matches were won by more than a 3 point gap which clearly shows momentum in the sport.
For the second match of the weekend on Sunday, the FSU women traveled to Pennsylvania for a match against Lock Haven.
Versus Lock Haven, the FSU women’s tennis came out on top convincingly. The final score was to 5-2 as FSU won two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles.
In the doubles matches, the pair of Pintar and Ladan, as well as Goering and Jen Diertele won their match by scores of 6-2 and 6-3.
Pintar and Ladan were beneficiaries of the singles competition also. Pintar won both matches 6-0 and 6-1. Ladan won her matches 6-2 and 6-4. Madison Toothman, and Betsy Hixson.
After women’s and men’s tennis play on Wednesday April 6th, their next match up will be here in Frostburg against West Virginia Wesleyan.
