Women’s Volleyball 2-0 Over The Weekend

On Saturday, September 25, the Frostburg State University (FSU) Women’s Volleyball traveled to Kutztown Pennsylvania to compete against Bowie State University (BSU), and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania (KUP).

The first match up of the day was against BSU who was coming into this match with a 1-9 record. To start things off, Hayley Delor gave Frostburg the opening score on an ace. On FSU’s next serve, Bowie corrected their wrongs from the last possession and scored with a set up kill. It was not until the middle of the first set where the highest lead was seen. Through aces, attack errors, and a few kills, BSU was able to come back and eventually take the lead. It would not be for long though because FSU focused in and delivered a scoring streak of their own causing them to take the first set. The same would happen in the next two as Frostburg reached the score of 25 before BSU. In that match, Beverly Braun led in most kills of the game.

The next match up would not be so easy as Kutztown came into this game with a 5-8 record, they forced FSU into a fifth set of the match. The first started off with KUP reeling. Late in the first set, FSU was in front 19-17, but KUP would not be held down. Kutztown came back by going on a 4 score streak, taking the lead on an attack error, and finished the job of the first set with another attack error. During the match, Frostburg and Kutztown traded wins, until the final set where FSU pulled away and gained the 15-10 victory. It was not on a streak, but with each team going back and forth scoring. The final 4 possessions was an attack error scored by KUP, a kill by FSU, an attack error by KUP, and once again a kill delivered by FSU. Braun was also the leader of this match in number of kills. AJ Thompson was tied for most number of aces and Delor led in assists.

The Women’s Volleyball team will be back in Bobcat arena for their match against Alderson Broaddus at 7 P.M.
