You Got Strolled

March 1, 2019 marked the night of what some people consider the biggest event of the Frostburg State University (FSU) spring semester. The event is none other than the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. Annual Stroll Competition. 2019 marks the fraternity’s 16th year hosting the event.

Each year, the brothers of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. gather their fellow NPHC (National Pan-Hellenic Council) organizations to compete in an energetic show. This year’s competition was between Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Held in the Lane University Center ARMAH, doors opened promptly at 7 p.m.. Students, parents, and alumni filled the room eager to see what the organizations had in store for them.

The teams practiced for weeks to put together routines that would not only impress the judges but shock the crowd as well. The competition was fierce, as each team put all of their energy into their performances. There were even special intermission performances. The FSU Strutters graced the stage with an electrifying performance. The Strutters had the crowd hyped with such graceful, hard-hitting moves. The crowd was also surprised with a rap performance by one of their fellow Bobcats. A sophomore here at FSU, known as “Njinnjoh” from the student organization Creative Minds, is known for his clever rapping and decided to share more during the show.

The brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. shimmied the night away. The brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and the divas of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. put the audience through the purge. The ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. showed the crowd how those poodles get down, and the finer women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. took those in attendance to school. Though all of the performances were astonishing, only one organization could take home the title of the 2019 stroll competition winners. This year blue and white ruled the night as the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. took home the title, and the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. took second.

We here at The Bottom Line would like to thank all of the performers for taking the time to giving us such an amazing show. Most of all, we would like to thank the brothers of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. for organizing and hosting the biggest event of the semester. We are excited to see what else these organizations may have planned for the campus this semester.
