2015 Women’s Soccer Season Remarks

FSU’s Women’s Soccer season ended falling to sixth-seeded York College of PA. This battle was in efforts of making it to the second round of the CAC tournament. The Bobcat ladies fell 2-0, not only ending their season but also failing to become the second reigning CAC champions.

Although the ladies ended the season with a loss, head Coach Parker had some words when asked what his thoughts were in terms of how the game went. He states, “No question we were disappointed in the way our season ended with a home loss but I never questioned the effort and spirit of our players. Every upset possible in our conference tournament occurred this year and the lowest seeded team won it. So as much as we believe we were certainly capable of winning it this year, I think it was about as unusual a tournament as there has ever been in CAC Women’s Soccer.”

York College of PA came for revenge in the dual for the second round. After losing to the Lady Bobcats earlier in the season (1-0), York had a focused mindset of winning the first round. The Lady Bobcats entered the tournament as the third-seeded team and were extremely hopefully in making this season end the same way it did last year as CAC Champions. Although the team was unable to achieve their season goal, these ladies have already started prepping for the upcoming 2016 season. Coach Parker explains, “Our preparation for 2016 has already begun in the weight room and we’ll train every day possible in the spring season and start building our team for the fall.”

With a new season comes new team members. Seven seniors will be leaving and moving onto the next chapter in their lives, but a new gateway will open for the incoming freshman entering their new chapter. “Every year and every team is unique and different. The only thing guaranteed in college sports every year is that players will graduate and new players will be recruited. So, as important and accomplished as our seniors were, winning two CAC titles over four years, we have great young talent and look forward to next year for sure,” says Coach Parker.

One senior who will be missed is Brooke Longo; she was “our overall most important player. She was a senior captain and the only player in the entire conference to win All-CAC honors in all four of her playing years. We had seven seniors though and they all provided outstanding leadership this year and were important players at different stages throughout the season,” explains Coach Parker. Each lady contributed to making this season a great one, although the outcome was not desired, the memories and bonds made will never be forgotten.

With the 2016 soccer season quickly approaching, these Lady Bobcats are already focused and excited for what the new season is going to offer. “The commitment level is as high as ever here in FSU Women’s Soccer and our players are excited about next season,” says Coach Parker. Frostburg State University will be ready and willing to cheer the Lady Bobcats on for the 2016 season.
