Baseball Returned to Home Field for Impressive Victory Over Marymount

After a long course of away games, on Thursday, April 12, Frostburg State baseball (4-5 CAC) returned to their home field ready to face off with their conference opponent Marymount University (4-7 CAC).
 
An impressive nine inning pitching performance from senior Greg Schneider helped push the Bobcats to victory. Schneider was able to earn himself 13 strikeouts against Marymount, giving him 81 strikeouts so far this season. Schneider also only gave up two walks the entire game.
 
Frostburg started on top quite early in the game with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Mike Takovich doubled to left center while earning an RBI from scoring Brady Adam. Takovich then scored from a ground ball putting the game at 2-0.
 
The Bobcats began to rally when Patrick Bosley homered (solo) in the bottom of the second. Nick Fuhrmann then hit a grand slam over the left field fence, giving Frostburg a six run lead. Logan Corrigan doubled and picked up two RBI’s. Kyle Burger walked twice and singled, picking up himself an RBI. Later, in the fifth inning, Brady Adam also singled, earning two RBI’s. Frostburg’s outstanding batting performance earned them thirteen runs in five innings.
 
Marymount had a total of four hits for the game. Austin Sizemore, a sophomore infielder, singled and earned an RBI. Junior Kaden Darrow had a single and grounded out in the fifth, earning another run for Marymount.  
 
Frostburg’s exceptional pitching and batting performance earned them a 13-2 win over Marymount. Frostburg will return home this Saturday, April 14, in a conference doubleheader against No.5 ranked Christopher Newport. The first game will begin at 12 p.m., followed by the second game at 3 p.m. Frostburg will then host another home game on Tuesday, April 17, against York College starting at 3:45 p.m.
