Bobcats Lose On The Road

On Sunday, Oct. 20th, the Frostburg Field Hockey team ended their weekend on the road in Gaffney, South Carolina when they played the Limestone College Saints.

The Bobcats fell to the Saints at the end of their long weekend. Limestone college dominated the field. The Saints were able to find the net 6 times during the game. Kelly Diplock was able to earn herself 2 goals. Opening up with only 5 minutes into game time Diplock was able to connect the assist from Thando Muchemenyi. Later on, Diplock got passed the Bobcat keeper again for her second goal at the 16-minute mark. Thando Muchemenyi scored in the first quarter, assisted by Keaghan Keracher. Corominas Cuen scored for the Saints with an assist from Keaghan Keracher. Immediately following,  Kate Remley, earned a penalty stroke goal. With only under 2 minutes left on the clock, Cameron Felch was able to find the back of the net one last time for the Saints.

The Saints had an overall 16 shots taken during the game. The Bobcats came up short with only 2 shots taken for the game.

Bobcats Sam Coffey and Cassidy Trojan both took shots on the goal each being blocked by the Saints defense. The Bobcats could not put up any points on the board for this matchup.

Frostburg’s senior keeper Sierra Smizer faced 12 shots during her playtime while earning 4 saves. The first-year keeper Madison Manalansan played the final 17 minutes of the game facing 3 shots and only allowing 1 score.

Time ended with the Bobcats down 0-6 and a win for the Limestone College Saints. The Bobcats currently stand 1-13.

The field hockey team will be back on the road this week. They are traveling to Erie, PA on Monday, Oct. 28th to take Mercyhurst. The Bobcats will return home when they host Shippensburg on Wednesday, Oct. 30th.
