Cross Country Rounds Up Season

The 2015-16 Cross Country season has concluded for the Bobcats, Saturday, November 8th. The CAC championships left the women’s team ending the season taking ninth place while the men finished with seventh place.

Senior Gabbi Maher and sophomore Faith Thackston were able to place top 50 for the overall meet. Maher ended her collegiate career running with her second best time of 25:23 in season; this placed Maher at the 50th spot. Thackston not only ran her personal best time of 25:15, but was also the top finisher for the lady Bobcats, taking the 48th spot.

Ten conference teams gathered on the 6k course competing for the CAC championship title. The lady Bobcats gathered a total of 258 points setting them up for ninth place, but it was Christopher Newport who took the championship title. Jayla Jones (29:37.4), Kenya Reese (29:56) and Alexandra Jeffers (29:59.9) assisted in rounding up points for the lady Bobcats. These ladies finished one after another taking 81st, 82nd and 83rd place. Along with finishing strong after each other, these lady Bobcats completed their second-best times for this season.

The Bobcat men were able to conjure up a total of 204 points leading them into seventh place for the 8k-championship course. Although none of the Bobcat men were able to place top 50, freshman Robert Romano was able to come close by running a time of 27:32, ultimately landing him in the 59th spot. Seniors Jeremy Brown (28:14), Adam Jenkins (28:33) and Greg Homing (28:34) were also assistants in the totaled number of points.

The 2015-16 CAC Championship meet concludes the cross-country season just in time for the transition to indoor track and field.
