Women’s Lax End Of Season Recap

FROSTBURG – The Women’s Lacrosse team finished the 2016 season 6-8 overall and 2-6 in the conference under first year head coach, Hayley Engster. At home Frostburg went 1-5 and when on the road, they were 5-3. Junior twin sisters Megan and Molly Hart again were top scorers for Frostburg this year. Last year Megan Hart recorded 25 goals and 32 points while her twin Molly chalked up 28 goals and 34 points. This year the girls improved on those numbers. Megan had 28 goals and scored 37 points and Molly had 21 goals and 34 points.

Before Engster took over for the 2016 season the team was under the direction of Megan Foy from 2012-2015. Last year the team finished 9-8 overall, 3-5 in the conference, 4-2 at home, and 4-6 away. However, the first couple years for Foy were not outstanding. In 2012 Frostburg went 4-12 overall and 2-6 in the conference. The following year, in 2013 the Lady Bobcats overall record was 5-11 and their conference record was 1-5. Then again in 2014 Frostburg fell 4-12 overall and 2-6 in conference play.

Next year will bring many roster changes for Engster as she tries to improve from the 2016 season. This year Frostburg loses two seniors, midfielder Marissa Howk and Attack Jamie Twardowicz. Howk finished her senior year with 4 goals and 4 points. During her 4 years playing at Frostburg she scored a total of 17 goals and 18 points. For Twardowicz, she had 3 goals and 4 points on the season. After two years of playing, Twardowicz ended her career at Frostburg with 8 goals and 12 points. Next season the roster will consist of mostly upper classmen with 9 seniors and 4 juniors making up 13 out of the possible 16 players listed.
