First Home Meet For FSU Acrobatics and Tumbling
On Saturday afternoon, the Frostburg State University (FSU) Acrobatics and Tumbling team had their first home meet against Alderson Broaddus and Fairmont State.
Starting off the event was compulsory, having heats for acrobatics, pyramid, toss, and tumbling. Fairmont State had the best score, coming in at 36.05 points, Frostburg came in second place with 35.8 points, and Alderson Broaddus trailed after with a measly 23.5 points.
The next event was acrobatics, having a fifth, sixth, and seventh element for each team. The Bobcats were able to secure first place after doing incredibly well in the seventh element, giving them an overall score of 9.75 out of 10 points. Frostburg would move on to gain another 28.05 points from the rest of the acrobatic elements. Fairmont State came next with another gain of 24.85 points and Alderson Broaddus came in last this count with19.95 points.
The final event for the first half was a pyramid event where Frostburg did the best once again. The first pyramid was a hand-in-hand hold performed by sophmore, Abbie Baker and freshman, Kaitlyn Enea.
The second pyramid to go was a duo with bases Alexis Palmieri and Kaylee Kosi, mids Navah Marierose and Virginia Krasznay, and tops Abbie Baker and Kaitlin Bolton.
Frostburg gained 26.9 points from this event. 0.3 of those points came from their biggest competitor, Fairmont. Ending the first half, the Bobcats were ahead of the game with a score of 90.75, Fairmont with 88.1, and Alderson Broaddus with 66.0 points.
Starting off the second half of the meet was the event toss. The highest score, a 9.05, given to the Bobcats gave them a total of 24.80, leaving them just behind Fairmont State who had a score of 25.6.
Next up was tumbling with trio, double, and solo events. The solo event athletes for the Bobcats were Alexis Palmieri, Abbie Baker, and Mayah Morant. The three gave Frostburg a total of 50.725 points.
With Frostburg sitting at a total of 166.475, Fairmont at 164.425, and Alderson Broaddus at 123.900 points, team events would either secure the top spot for Frostburg or allow Fairmont to snatch a win. Unfortunately, the Bobcats were granted a 101.07 score for the team section, their 82.57 points fell just below Fairmont’s 87.9. This left Frostburg’s final score for the tri-meet to be 249.045, putting them in second place overall. Fairmont took first place with an overall score of 252.325 and left third to Alderson Broaddus, with a final score of 123.900.
The Bobcats return home for their next meet, taking place on campus, against Glenville State and Quinnipiac on March 13th.
