In the first set, the Bobcats would take a 3-2 to lead off of some errors by the Tigers and a kill from Hailey Altemus. The Tiger’s would, later on, take the lead 15-9, until Frostburg’s 6-0 run would tie the game at 15 apiece. The bobcats would apply more pressure and would take the first set of the game, 25 to 19. In the second set, Salem would take control and get out to a 16-8 lead. They would win the second set 25 to 18. The Bobcats would turn up the intensity in the next two sets winning both. In the third set, it was competitive to the point where the score was 16 to 12 with the Bobcats leading. The Bobcats would close out the set 25 to 18. In the fourth and final set of this match, both teams were scratching and clawing at each other to pull out a victory. It looked as though Salem would put Frostburg away in this set leading 14 to 6. Instead, the Bobcats battled back with a massive 12-0 run that would put them up by two. Towards the end of the set, Salem and Frostburg would go back and forth until the Bobcats would pull out with the victory 30 -28, winning the match 3 games to 1.

In the next match, Frostburg would host Glenville State on Friday, Oct. 25th at 7:00 p.m. In the first set, both teams would feel each other out and both could not stretch out a lead so the game was close throughout. Frostburg would take the first set off a kill from Altemus and a Glenville error. In the second set, the Bobcats would put themselves in a good position by getting out to a comfortable 20-12 lead. Frostburg would take the second set 25-17. In the third and final set, the Pioneers put up a good fight against the Bobcats to be down one 17 to 16. Frostburg would shut the door on the Pioneers hopes of taking this set, as the Bobcats put together a 7-3 run to take the third set 25-20, winning the match in a sweep.

In the final match of the week, Frostburg would host Concord University on Saturday, Oct. 26th at 11:00 a.m. In the first match, both teams came out strong, but the Bobcats would find themselves up by three with a score of 15-12 in the middle of the set. Frostburg would gather momentum and win the first set 25-20. In the second set, the Mountain Lions were determined to even the series as they got went on a 7-1 run in the middle of the set to help them win the second set. The Bobcats would come out in the third set looking to bounce back, and they would take the set 25-18. In the fourth set, the Bobcats looked to close out the match, but Concord would have other plans. Concord would even up the series 2-2 winning the set 25-20. In the fifth set, Concord looked to pull away after a 4 to 0 run put them up 7 to 6. The Mountain Lions would win the fifth set 15-13 and would win the match 3 games to 2.

“I felt like they fought hard and had fun. We went 2 and 1 this week so that’s the direction we would like to be heading in, but we know we can do better,” senior middle hitter Biamba Tshitenge said of the team’s performance.

The Bobcats will be back in action Friday, Nov. 1st at 7:00 p.m. in away game against West Liberty.
