FSU Men’s LAX Redeems Themselves Against Roberts Wesleyan

In the week of April 18-24, the Frostburg State University (FSU) Men’s Lacrosse team played two games. In the first on Wednesday April 21, the Bobcats took a loss after traveling to Greensburg PA to take on the Seton Hill Griffins.

In the first quarter, FSU proved that this was a rematch they had been hoping for. Frostburg scored the games first three goals, and on only four shot attempts. The three goals were scored by Jason Clinton, Matthew Ward, and Paul Ruppert. The Griffins wouldn’t be held down for long as they would produce bursts of consecutive scoring throughout the game, but the Bobcats stayed in control for the majority.

After the Griffins tied the game in the late first quarter, and again early second quarter, FSU pulled away, outscoring Seton Hill 5-2 in the second quarter alone. Seton Hill was able to battle back in the third, tying the game, and taking the lead soon after. Because of a very defensive fourth quarter, Seton Hill walked off with a win after a single game sealing goal in the final two minutes. Seton Hill won the game 12-10.

Saturday April 24 was Senior day for the Men’s Lacrosse team. This was also a day to redeem themselves from the loss earlier in the week.

In the first half, the game was very back and forth. No team was able to keep the lead that they had. Eventually, Frostburg put together a chain of scores and great defenses that kept Roberts Wesleyan in the passenger seat. In the fourth quarter, the Redhawks scored three goals to the Bobcats one. Luckily for the Bobcats, their lead had been built to a point that the Redhawks would not have enough time to come back from. The final score was 11-10 Bobcats.

In the game against Roberts Wesleyan, Ruppert moved into second place in the Men’s FSU lacrosse overall scoring. As the season winds down, we’ll see how close he can get to the top scoring record.

Men’s lacrosse is doing great. Apart from two losses to the same team, they have been playing very impressive not winning in blowout fashion all the time, but winning. We’ll see if they can continue on April 28 against the rank number four Mercy Mavericks. Game set to start at 3 P.M.
