Lady Bobcats Compelling Win in Double-Overtime

With 10 seconds left on the clock, the lady Bobcats anxiously rushed down the Spartans court handing the ball to senior Ronje James, who thus scored the game winning shot in double over time leaving the score, 78-76.

York College (Pa.) opened their home court at the York’s Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center, to the Frostburg State University’s women and men’s basketball team on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Although the Bobcat men were overpowered, returning home with an ending score of 52-67, the lady Bobcats had a victorious win against the lady Spartans.

Starting the game off strong, the lady Spartans ended the first half with a leading score of 19-25. But, soon after the halftime break, the lady Bobcats seemed to bring a different vibe to the court. These ladies were more focused and ready to take the win and return home with a victory. After an intense second quarter the game took an unexpected twist; the lady Bobcats fiercely took the lead ending the second quarter 39-33. Totaling these points up (58-58), the game was then sent into overtime (OT). Over the next 5 minutes both team played vigorously with a point to prove; the lady Spartans, wanting to defend their home court and lady Bobcats, wanting to prove they are a powerful force.

As both teams cheered their lady teammates on during the remaining 5 minutes, it is needless to say these ladies have played in an exhausting game. After two 20-minute halves and crossing over into OT, both the lady Spartans and Bobcats ended OT with another tying score of 7-7. Resulting in yet another tied game, these two teams played another 5 minute overtime quarter.
