Netflix’s You Season 3 Review
There you are, scrolling through Netflix. You set your eyes on a show called You. It seems interesting enough. You click on it, and next thing you know suddenly you’re captivated by the creepy yet handsome, scary but committed Joe Goldberg. You see, Joe has a problem. Well, he actually has quite a few but the main one is that he is an obsessive, crafty murderer. Cute, right? Pfft, no. However, women can’t seem to stay away from him. Ted Bundy vibes anyone? Just as women become captivated by his character, he becomes obsessed with women. So obsessed that he follows them, stalks them, and even collects their personal belongings. A few episodes in and you’re hooked, and now patiently awaiting season 3. Well, it’s here, and in my opinion, it did not disappoint.
You see, season 2 introduced new characters, bringing us Joe’s most recent love interest, Love. In the first season, Beck wasn’t crazy the way Joe was, but Love was different and matched his energy. Some speculated that they were soulmates. But when Love showed her true colors and proved that she was equally, if not more, crazy than Joe, he questioned their relationship and even attempted to murder Love until she proclaimed that she was pregnant with his child. This brings us to Season 3, which is all over the place, but probably the best season yet. Love and Joe move to a new town to start a new life, away from all the rumors about Love’s family. This new town is very modern and the people seem to be a pool of Instagram influencers. Sidenote, Netflix did a wonderful job about creating a diverse neighborhood of varying races and sexualities, as well as varying political standpoints and disabilities, so yay for that! Anyways, Love and Joe have to do their best to fit in, but as you might have guessed, it’s only a matter of time before they start spilling blood. Joe becomes obsessed with some new women, yep that’s plural. Love finds an affair as well, and their baby, Henry, well he’s as innocent as babies come, for now.
Honestly, that baby was the glue for this toxic couple because, at multiple points, I thought they were going to kill each other. Love and Joe just don’t seem to be as much in love anymore. I assume that’s probably because Joe almost killed his wife, but maybe they worked through that? Or maybe not. Love and Joe go to therapy, they try new things in the bedroom to include adding in friends? To each their own I guess? Yeah, see? Like I said this show is all over the place. But, no matter how weird and crazy it got, it seemed that Love carried the season all the way through. Did she kill people? Yes… Did she behave in psychotic and conniving ways? Uh, also yes… but come on! She was killing it! Oops, poor word choice. ANYWAYS! She was so good to Joe! And he kept looking left and right for a new woman! Why??? Love was awesome and caring and always there for him. Ugh, it’s so confusing as to how Joe thought he would continuously get away with things when Love was always three steps ahead of him! We need to give her more credit even if she was just as crazy.
So if you’re looking for something to watch, I would highly recommend this thrilling TV show if you haven’t seen it yet, lock yourself away and binge! If you have seen it, I hope you found it just as enthralling as I did, and I, like you, will await season 4 while constantly looking over my shoulder for any suspicious neighbors.
