NFL AFC conference Super Bowl contenders.
The NFL season is upon us and as we approach the season opening weekend, we look at teams who have the best chance to go all the way. The American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC) are both competitive conferences and there will be many surprises this season, such as teams who were underestimated putting the league on notice. For each conference, I would like to share four teams that I think are constructed top to bottom to make it to the super bowl and possibly win.
AFC:
The first team that I think will have a great chance to win the super bowl is none other than the defending champs themselves, the Kansas City Chiefs. If you are a fan of the NFL, you know that Chief’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes has an amazing talent. In his short career, he has been an NFL MVP, Super Bowl MVP, and a Super Bowl champion – all at the age of 24. The Chiefs are returning offensive mastermind, Andy Reid, and their explosive offense from their Super Bowl run last season, so we should expect more of the same. New talent has also joined the team in the form of running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. In the first game of the season, he put up good rushing numbers against the Houston Texans defense. Rushing for 138 yards on 25 carries. It’s safe to say the defending champs’ future looks bright.
The Baltimore Ravens would be my second super bowl pick. Arguably, the Ravens have the second-best young quarterback in the league, that being Lamar Jackson. The Ravens are returning much of the roster from their great season last year with new additions J.K Dobbins, Devin Duvernay, Calais Campbell, and Patrick Queen. The Ravens are looking to prove doubters wrong in the postseason this year after having an early exit in the previous season. With their monster rushing attack and passing game improving, the Ravens are closing in on the Chiefs.
The third team would be the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts will be a team that will be underestimated this year. But, they were very competitive last year before their starting quarterback went down. But, with the addition of Philip Rivers, DeForest Buckner, Michael Pittman Jr, and Jonathan Taylor, the team will be given a lift and be made able to jump from a playoff team to be competing for a championship.
The fourth team would be the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh suffered last year because of Ben Roethlisberger’s injury. The team was competitive because of their top 10 defense but struggled on offense. With Big Ben returning and their top 10 defense coming back, it puts them back into the mix. Also, the Steelers added Eric Ebron who is an exceptional tight end, with rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool.
