The Perfects Are Coming

From time to time it is good that this generation is reminded of the past. Overtime things in society have changed majorly. However, this weekend was based around the changes in movies, music, and most of all fashion. Paparazzi Perfect, one of Frostburg State University’s (FSU) student modeling organizations, hosted a throwback themed show.

Held in the Lane University Center’s ARMAH, The Perfect Throwback was based around movies released in everyone’s favorite era, the 90’s. The team allowed their fellow classmates to attend the show for free. Tickets were released on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 10 a.m. On Sunday, April 14, doors to the event opened at 6:30 p.m., and students, as well as parents, flooded the room eager to see the show. The team had worked hard for months practicing for what would be the last performance for some of the models.

The show consisted of seven scenes that were each based around a different movie. Each scene began with a clip from a movie, followed by a dance number, and ended with a runway. The clips were picked from movies such as Belly, Love & Basketball, Clueless, Legally Blonde, Poetic Justice, Set It Off, and the epic House Party. Energetic performances by the perfects were accompanied by throwback hits such as “Candy Rain” by Soul for Real, “Love Like This” by Faith Evans, “That’s the Way Love Goes” by Janet Jackson, “Mo Money Mo Problems” by Notorious B.I.G ft. P. Diddy & Mase, and “Ain’t My Type of Hype”  by Full Force. Some of the scenes included DIY outfits, while others included fashions composed by designers. The crowd’s favorite was the final scene, in which the models paid a tribute to the 90’s with DIY fashion trends. The final scene also included one last walk with each model of the team flooding the stage and ending in one big dance party.

The show was hosted by an FSU alumnus known as “Hustleman Fatz.” Accompanying the host was a very well-known DJ, current FSU student Isaiah Ball, who goes by the name of “DJ CrayZay.” Both DJ CrayZay and Hustleman Fatz did an astounding job of keeping the crowd intrigued throughout the night. With their energy at an all-time high, the crowd was elated to see some of their favorite classmates put on such a great show. Before closing the show, Ke’Iyra Smith, President of Paparazzi Perfect, and her executive board (Dabney Jones, Leslie Olemba, and Tionna Bush) handed out superlatives. Erin James, junior, was named the team’s Most Improved model. Dyamond Frazier, sophomore, earned the titled of being the Most Dedicated model. Earning the title of King QP was William Stewart, senior, and by his side was the astounding Cierra Keene, senior, earning the title of Queen QP. Most importantly was the fact that they announced the new board members for the 2019-2020 school year. With Smith returning as the organization’s President, filling the position for Vice President will be sophomore Talia Hammond. Jenneh Kanu , sophomore, will be taking the position of Secretary, while Alexis Walker, senior, adds to the board as the team’s Treasurer. Completing the executive board was Melvin Kiah, sophomore, who will be taking over as the Modeling Coordinator.

We here at The Bottom Line would like to thank the members of Paparazzi Perfect for hosting such an amazing event. We would also like to congratulate those who won superlatives, as well as those who have earned a position on the executive board for next year. We are excited to see what else Paparazzi Perfect has in store for the campus this semester, as well as what they have in store for next year.
