Women’s Soccer Falls in Open-Match of CAC Tournament

York College of PA challenged the lady Bobcats for the semifinal round of the CAC Tournament. York’s win will advance them into the second round where they will compete against St. Mary’s College for the finalist spot in the CAC Championship.

The match consisted of two un-scored halves for the lady Bobcats that led York College to have the upper hand leaving the score 2-0. The lady Spartans’ Maxine Herman made her mark early, scoring within the first 15 minutes of the game. Caitlin Rankin was the final scorer for York College scoring within the second half. This gave the lady Spartans their 2-0 lead.

The lady Bobcats had a total of 10 shot attempts as well as six corner kicks, but this wasn’t enough to make the scoreboard. Spartan goalie Kate Lutte was able to save all five shots that the Bobcats attempted thus leaving them un-scored. Bobcat goalie Paige Gray was able to save four shots, two of which were diving saves. Although the Spartans were able to catch the net twice, Gray lessened the amount of points the Spartans were capable of getting.

This game loss ended the season for the Frostburg State University’s women’s soccer team. They will continue to work hard in preparation for next season with the hopes pushing farther into playoffs.
