All Good Shows Come To An End

As the New Year approaches it will be leaving behind many fan-favorite television shows. Some shows are being canceled after many years of episodes while others just after a few episodes. Here are a few of the top rated shows ranging from comedy to mystery that ended this year.

American Idol

2002-2016

American Idol was a singing competition show created by Simon Fuller. Twelve contestants from America would come and compete in talent contest by singing any song of their choice. The show was hosted by Ryan Seacrest and judged by Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. The show has been a vital part of fox TV network. It’s been one of the most watched tv shows and has drawn more than 30 million viewers an episode.  After 15 seasons the show has made over 217 million in ticket sales. Over the years, it has been nominated and has won multiple awards.

Myth busters

2003-2016

Myth Busters was an entertainment show created by Australia’s Beyond Television Productions for Discovery channel and aired worldwide. The cast includes Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, Grant Imahara, Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman, Jesse Combs, and Robert Lee. The show would take myths, tall, tales and urban legends prove them as true, probable, possible, improbable or busted. Myth Busters has been filming for 14 years with a total number of 14 seasons and 282 episodes. The show has been nominated for over ten awards throughout its seasons.

Castle

2009-2016

Castle was an American crime drama TV series that appeared on ABC television. The show was created by Andrew W. Marlowe and the cast includes Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion, Molly Quinn, Susan Sullivan, Jon Huertas, Seamus Dever, and Lanie Parish. The show traced the lives and romance of the two lead characters as well as the crimes and murder mysteries in New York City. It has aired 8 seasons with a totaling of 173 episodes. The show and cast have won 18 awards and 20 nominations.

Gravity Falls

2012-2016

Gravity Falls was an American animated television series aired on Disney XD. The show was created by Alex Hirsch and the cast includes Alex Hirsch, Kristen Schaal, Jason Ritter, Linda Cardellini, Thurop Van and Dee Bradley. The show has aired for 2 seasons with a total 40 episodes. The plot followed the adventures of twin sibling characters in the fictional mysterious town of Gravity Falls while on summer vacation at their uncle’s tourist trap. The show has won 13 awards and had 30 nominations.

The Muppets

2015-2016

The Muppets was an American television comedy series that aired on ABC. The Muppet’s were originally created in 1976 but ended in 1998 but then again picked up by ABC in 2015.  The show was co-created by Bill Parody and Bob Kushell. The cast includes Steve Whitmire, Eric Jacobson, Dave Goelz, Bill Barreta, and David Rudman. The Muppets was a family-centered mockumentary-style show that follows and explores their personal and professional lives. Unfortunately, the show lasted for only one season only airing 16 episodes. The show has had 3 wins and 4 nominations.
