Crime Lines 10/19/2021 – 10/25/2021

10/19/2021  Request for Officer  – Officers met with a female FSU student at UPD who advised she was in an altercation with another FSU female over a parking space in Compton.  Also, during the altercation her car keys were missing. The suspect was identified by the complainant who provided her MD tag number.  Officers proceeded back to Compton. The suspect approached the officers and provided them with the missing keys and gave information regarding the altercation. The suspect was advised she would be contacted in the next few days in reference to the altercation. Judicial Board Referral was completed. 

10/19/2021  Fraud – Officers responded to FSUPD to speak with a FSU student who had received fraudulent emails requesting her to send a check or money to several different locations. The subject advised she had blocked all communications and reported them to fraud departments.   

10/20/2021  Check on Well Being  Officers were dispatched to the Lane Center to make contact with a male FSU student who appeared to be not feeling well. The subject left the area prior to officers’ arrival. The Ocularis camera system was able to show the individual entering Brownsville. The male subject did not appear in distress or in need of any medical attention.   

10/20/2021  Request for Officer  – Officers responded to Framptom Lot for one vehicle parked behind another which was touching the rear of the vehicle.  The Ocularis camera system was reviewed and did show the vehicle taking several attempts at parallel parking behind the other. There was no damage to either vehicle. 

10/20/2021  Narcotics Complaint – Officers responded to Frederick Hall for an odor of marijuana. Upon arrival there was a strong odor on the 2nd floor hall.  Officers were unable to locate a source in any of the quads, there was no odor in the quads. Officers performed a walk through at which time the odor had dissipated in the second-floor hall.  

10/21/2021  CDS – Officers were contacted at University PD by FSU facilities to handover a small glassine baggie with what he believed to be CDS. The bag was located on the ground, at Guild’s Main entrance. The bag was processed and placed into temporary evidence pending destruction. 

10/22/2021  Skateboard Complaint – While Officers were on patrol, a male subject was observed riding a skateboard from the area of the Lane Center.  Officers made contact and spoke to him about riding skateboards on campus. The male subject stated he understood and complied.  He left the area.  

10/22/2021  Harassment – Officers investigating two accounts on social media that have allegedly been verbally attacking a FSU student for the past 6 months. These accounts are regarding alleged racist items. After investigating the posts, officers were unable to observe any derogatory language. Currently, the posts appear to be expressing a political view and don’t seem to rise to a level of being malicious, therefore don’t to apply to the requirements of the criminal statute.  

10/22/2021  Assist Other Agency (FPD) – Assisted FPD during a traffic stop on Grant Street. Officers stayed until the operator’s information returned by dispatch. 

10/23/2021  CDS – Officers responded to Simpson Hall for an odor of marijuana. Contact was made with the subject of the room in question who also had two other females in the room, all were FSU students. Officers collected CDS and paraphernalia to be placed in temporary evidence to be destroyed. Judicial board referrals submitted.

10/24/2021  Check on Well Being – Officers received an email regarding a possible missing student on Paul Street. Contact could not be made with the complainant due to her concerns and as she believed a black female may be missing but would not speak with police due to her fear of police and her personal beliefs. Officers attempted to make contact with the possible missing female at several obtained address’s also by phone with provided number with negative results. Contact was made with ACM Security personnel to inquire if the female was an ACM student. Investigation is ongoing. 

10/25/2021  Request for Officer – Officers met with a FSU female student who advised she was fearful of entering her dorm room due to, what she believed, was a male FSU staff member opening her dorm room door a few weeks ago. She believes it was opened by mistake however she is having anxiety about the male staff member. The female was advised to contact the Residence Life Office regarding a room change request.   

Summary period includes 157 calls for service and 6 traffic stops.
